Screening Programs

Vision Research Corporation specializes in large-scale screening services for the early detection of eye problems in children. These services are typically provided throughout entire geographic areas, ranging from counties to entire states. The number of children included in the screening programs have to date ranged from a low of around 5,000 to over 150,000 per program, all done within short time frames. The screening itself is very fast, typically taking only 20 minutes or so for an entire class of 20 to 25 students. This minimizes both classroom disruption and distractions for the children being screened, both of which are highly important in a school screening environment. VRC's screening programs are totally inclusive, providing comprehensive start-to-finish eye screenings, performed on-site at schools and daycare centers.

During the past seven years, Vision Research has screened almost 2,000,000 children for eye problems in public schools. There is no organization with more experience than VRC in the design and implementation of consistent assured-performance eye screenings conducted throughout large geographic areas. In addition, VRC does not provide "just a screening", its overall screening program includes a detailed report for each child's parent, as well as extensive follow-up assistance for the school personnel. The follow-up materials include problem-list worksheets and narrative, and both detailed and summary statistics, so that all involved with the program are aware of and can utilize the results from the screenings to help assure they have a positive impact on the child's learning ability. The key goals are to minimize academic problems resulting from poor vision, to identify the children who need to be seen by an eye care professional, and to help assure they receive the examinations and treatment they need.
