NASA Connection
VRC began operations with an exclusive license for a patent held by NASA on an innovative eye screening system. The system had its origins in optics work done for the Landsat and Skylab space telescopes, and it was pursued by NASA under its charter requirement to attempt to commercialize any technology it develops which may have private sector potential. The Ocular Screening System was the end result of years of design, development, and clinical and field testing conducted by NASA.
